Back-to-School Lunches

It’s that time of year again! The time of year when you pack up the kids, load them in the car, drop them off at school and squeal away without even looking in your rear-view mirror…I mean, that time when you’re heartbroken that you won’t have someone to entertain all day.

You spent all summer with your children; taking them to friends, to barbecue’s, to the beach, to fairs…they have had a lot of activity! Help your children maintain that healthy lifestyle by packing lunches full of vitamins and nutrients!

Serve mushrooms cold
Simply wipe fresh mushrooms with a damp cloth, cut into bite-sized pieces or keep whole. Send along a small container of their favourite dip for a healthy, fresh snack before recess.

Microwave Mushrooms (2-3 Minutes)
Cooking mushrooms in the microwave works extremely well. Use whole button or thickly-sliced mushrooms. Put seven to eight ounces (200g-227g) in a microwavable bowl; cover and cook on HIGH for 2-3 minutes, stirring once. These add great flavour to a sandwich or a cold pasta salad in your child’s lunch.

Mushroom Stuffed Pizza Pockets
If your child is one of those kids who like cold, leftover pizza, then these Mushrooms Stuffed Pizza Pockets will be a hit. They make great portable lunches!
