Get in the Halloween Spirit with Mushrooms
Happy Halloween! I have to admit that this is probably my favourite holiday. I am such a kid at heart with my love of getting dressed up, watching the scary (and the not-so-scary) themed movies and of course enjoying all the edible treats that go along with the day.
I’m a sucker for sugary treats, but as I’ve gotten older the themed snacks seem to become more and more elaborate! I have one friend in particular who is absolutely one of the most creative people I know. So creative in fact, that she managed to make the vegetables one of the highlights of the party with this Veggie Skeleton!
Use the vegetables in your fridge and create this fun platter for the kids. I know I couldn’t get enough! Place a bowl with their favourite dip at the top to make the head. We used olives for eyes and the tops of the celery stalks for the hair. Fill in the rest of the skeleton with your healthy favourites, but I have to say that our stack of sliced White Button Mushrooms went fast! Thank goodness my friend always plans to have extras.
She also made up a batch of Pumpkin Fluff Dip (Cool Whip, instant vanilla pudding powder, pure pumpkin from a can and some pumpkin spice) and paired it with Teddy Graham crackers.
