Blend your way to FBC2016: Beef & Mushroom Samosas by Food Mamma
Our Appetizer Spotlight contest is officially closed! We’ve so loved seeing all of these tasty entries, fighting to win their way into the SOLD OUT FBC2016 conference.
We’ll be showcasing the final submissions over the next little while, as we work hard to make our decision. This year’s contest has certainly been a tough one! Today, we have Fareen of Food Mamma sharing her Beef & Mushroom Samosas which embrace the flavours of both white button and shiitake mushrooms.

Beef & Mushroom Samosas
Ingredients
1 lb ground beef
1/2 lb shiitake mushrooms
1/2 lb white mushrooms
1 small onion, chopped
3 green onions, chopped
2 tsp crushed garlic
2 tsp crushed ginger
2 tsp cumin powder
1/2 lime, juiced
1/2 bunch cilantro, chopped
oil
salt
wonton wrappers
Method
Place the mushrooms in a food processor and pulse until the mushrooms are finely
chopped. In a pan, add a little oil and cook the beef and mushrooms on medium heat. Add
salt, ginger, garlic and cumin powder. When the mixture is cooked, add the onions and
the lime juice. Sprinkle with cilantro.
Place a heaping spoon of the beef and mushroom mixture in the wonton wrapper and fold
in a diaganol. Use a dab of water to seal the wonton shut. Fry until golden and serve with
limes or tamarind chutney.
